Britain alleges Iranians plotting Manchester attack
The British police have charged two Iranian men, Rahman Salahi (35) and Salaam Ahmadyan (36), with planning a terrorist attack in Manchester targeting the Jewish community. They suspect that the men attempted to acquire bomb components and surveil potential targets on the eve of Yom Kippur, with possible communication with an external party in Iran. The two were arrested in September 2023 and are scheduled to appear in court. This comes amid rising tensions between the UK and Iran, with Tehran denying the allegations. The police clarified that this plot is unrelated to threats against British military facilities, and the UK government is monitoring ongoing threats against the Jewish community in the country.
