West Bank Palestinians worry over olive harvest threats
The olive harvest season in the West Bank is witnessing an escalation in attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their lands, with repeated thefts and tree cuttings. Israeli military forces continue to issue orders of eviction and restrictions on access to the fields under the pretext of security. Despite the expectation that the 2026 season will be good, with yields increased to around 125 kg per dunam, ongoing violence—particularly tree uprooting and assault operations—threatens the livelihoods of Palestinians who depend on olive cultivation as their main source of income. The numerous attacks reported since the beginning of the 2025 season are among the most severe in the past twenty years.
