Experts: China Supports AI Growth in Developing Countries
Experts at the Cairo Conference in 2026 pointed out that China offers a practical pathway for Southern countries to benefit from the development of artificial intelligence by adopting open-source approaches, transparency, and collaboration. They emphasized that strengthening collective capabilities through cooperation among universities and research centers, as well as utilizing local applications, can help reduce the technological gap between the Global North and South. Additionally, they underscored the importance of including the Global South in ethical and data governance issues, with a focus on adapting AI technologies to each country's infrastructure and needs—particularly in sectors like agriculture and health. They explained that China promotes open-source AI models and applications tailored to local requirements, empowering Southern nations to utilize and develop the technology, while emphasizing intercultural cooperation and the exchange of expertise in governance and ethical standards.
