Interior Ministry on Arrest of Six Journalists
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior justified its actions by claiming that the "Matstach" platform is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and incites the spread of false news. They arrested six members of its editorial team, including journalists not registered with the syndicate, alleging manipulation of information from abroad and funding escapees. The platform denied these accusations, asserting that its team works to correct misleading news, and clarified that it is not affiliated with the Brotherhood. They also described what happened as an unprecedented development against an entire team of journalists without a clear legal justification. The Journalists' Syndicate filed a complaint and a report demanding the release of the detained team.
