Turkish club officials face doubts and suspicions
The Turkish Football Federation referred approximately 450 club officials to the Disciplinary Committee as part of an extensive investigation into illegal betting activities. The list includes officials from Premier League and First Division clubs, including the president of Trabzonspor and the vice president of Beşiktaş, who are found to have wagered during their tenures over the past five years. This move follows the suspension of the head of Turkish football arbitration and six other individuals on charges of financial and administrative corruption, as they are suspected of illegally influencing refereeing decisions and match outcomes. These developments come amid previous scandals involving 149 referees linked to illegal betting.
