Hezbollah-Damascus Meeting Details
Reports circulated about a secret meeting held between officials from Syria and Hezbollah in Turkey last month, an attempt to ease tensions between the two sides after years of direct hostility. The two parties discussed security concerns, ways to stop arms smuggling, and dismantling Hezbollah cells within Syria. Although the results of the meeting were not officially announced, both sides agreed on the importance of cooperation to reduce tensions. Syria emphasized that it does not adopt an adversarial stance toward Hezbollah and rejected military intervention in Lebanon, while Hezbollah sought assistance in halting smuggling operations. This meeting comes amid escalating tensions following Syria's accusations against Hezbollah for transferring weapons and preparing rocket launch operations, while Hezbollah denied the presence of its members inside Syria.
