Turkey's response to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia
The article discusses the efforts by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan in establishing a mutual defense alliance known as the Mecca Agreement, which is viewed as an important platform to reshape the regional power dynamics. The Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that the alliance, which is in the final stages of preparations such as deploying personnel and establishing headquarters, will not be tied to the conflicts between Iran and the United States. He emphasized that the alliance is open to countries in the region. The statements also addressed the escalation of the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on Riyadh Airport and Aramco facilities, with the coalition affirming its interception and destruction of weapons and its continued efforts to protect Saudi territory. The cooperation among the three countries and their joint actions represent a significant step toward countering regional threats, especially in light of the Yemeni escalation and Iran’s incursions into the Red Sea.
