Oktoberfest in Munich begins with AI oversight
The Oktoberfest festival in Munich officially opened for its 191st edition, where sunny weather and mild temperatures drew thousands of visitors from the morning. The new mayor, Dominik Krause, opened the first beer barrel of the festival in accordance with Bavarian tradition and received the first mug from Bavaria's Minister-President, Markus Söder. The celebration was attended by celebrities and featured traditional Bavarian attire. A memorial was held at the main entrance to pay tribute to the victims of the 1980 attack, which resulted in 12 deaths and injured 200 others. Security measures were increased, with over 50 AI-supported smart cameras deployed, around 600 police officers present, thorough inspections at entrances to prevent dangerous items, and preparations made for any potential incidents, including drone threats.
