Haysith critiques US Iran war losses report
The article discusses U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth's escalation of his tone toward a newspaper report that questioned the accuracy of the human loss figures announced by the Pentagon in the Iran war. He confirmed that those figures are incorrect, describing the report as "a complete lie." A Washington Post report revealed that the number of American military personnel who have died in the region since the start of the war might be higher than the official figures. While the Pentagon database recorded 18 deaths, unofficial sources suggest the number could be as high as 22 or 23, though some cases were not directly related to combat. This comes amid disputes over data accuracy and demands to hold Hegseth's administration accountable, especially as a Republican deputy moves to push for a vote on his removal for violating the War Powers Resolution of 1973 by managing the conflict with Iran without congressional approval.
