Displacement tents host Gaza students after 3-year break
After three years of interruption, around 400,000 students in Gaza have returned to school through temporary schools and tents. However, they face significant challenges, including shortages of books and stationery, overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of seating, especially after educational buildings were damaged during the war. Schools are implementing accelerated curricula to address the educational gap and compensate for the years of interruption, while also providing psychological support and training for teachers. Meanwhile, officials are attempting to establish additional schools and expand capacity despite resource shortages and economic difficulties. The students' return marks the beginning of reclaiming their right to education, but this depends on the education system's ability to provide a safe and suitable environment, with a focus on improving the quality of education and reducing the educational gap caused by the war.
