Israeli concerns over F-35 sale to Saudi Arabia
An article discussing Israeli demands following the emergence of the U.S. deal to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, valued at over $35 billion. Israel estimates that maintaining its qualitative military edge requires delaying the delivery of the planes to Saudi Arabia for up to five years, despite the deal nearing activation. Sources confirm that Israel currently holds a military advantage due to its local expertise and developed systems, but the Israeli government refuses to squander these advantages. It has requested advanced weapons that were previously off-limits, as well as participation in the development and production of future weapon systems such as space missiles and drones. Israel also faces financial and political challenges in funding its defense networks, with ongoing debate over the plan to purchase additional fighter jets.
