Half of Arab men in Israel lack personal safety
The Association of Human Rights Physicians has revealed the existence of a deep security and health crisis among Arab citizens in Israel, especially Palestinians, as a result of the policy of racial discrimination that exacerbates the gaps in feelings of safety and access to healthcare services. A survey showed that 42.5% of Palestinians do not feel safe in public places compared to 19% of Jews, with 25% of them considering crime a main source of concern, while economic hardship is a major worry for Palestinian women. The results also indicate that insecurity and discrimination directly impact physical and mental health, with widening disparities in access to healthcare, reflecting a link between violence, discrimination, and health inequality.
