The oil tanker "Trend," flying the Togolese flag, was reportedly injured while attempting to illegally pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval forces. They confirmed that the tanker halted after a fire broke out on board. The forces stated that the attempt to cross was instigated and deceptive, coordinated by the U.S. military, which continues to control the maritime passage to prevent any vessel from crossing illegally. They warned that such actions could lead to the destruction of offending ships. This development comes amid escalating tensions and provocative statements between Iran and the United States, following a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at resolving regional disputes. However, the fate of the negotiations remains uncertain amidst recent rising tensions.
