Chinese firms reveal new models ahead of Apple's foldable launch

Chinese companies Huawei and Xiaomi have unveiled new foldable phones in preparation for Apple's entry into this sector, which Apple has largely ignored for years. Huawei introduces the "Mate X2," featuring a triple-fold design, a durable structure with water resistance, and a price exceeding $3,700 for the top-tier version. It relies on the "Kirin 9050 Pro" processor equipped with AI capabilities. Meanwhile, Xiaomi revealed the "Xiaomi 18 Fold" priced from approximately $1,639, closely resembling Samsung's Galaxy Fold 8 design. The release of these devices supports a proactive strategy ahead of the anticipated announcement from Apple of its first foldable phone during its keynote on September 9, which is expected to achieve strong sales and impact market shares.
