Japan's FIFA Challenge
Gianni Infantino is facing his first serious challenger for the FIFA presidency after FIFA Council member and honorary president of the Japan Football Association Kozo Tashima announced he would run against him. Candidates need the backing of at least five football associations, and Sky Sports reports that Tashima is well placed to secure the endorsements thanks to his position and connections. The election is scheduled to take place in Morocco next March, in a contest that could end Infantino’s hopes of being re-elected unopposed.
