Egypt-Morocco Coach Race
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees for the 2026 African Coach of the Year award. The shortlist includes four coaches from Egypt and Morocco: Walid Regragui, Mohamed Ouahbi, Hossam Hassan and Moatamed Gamal. Regragui led Morocco to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, with the title later awarded to Morocco administratively after Senegal withdrew. Ouahbi guided the national team to the quarter-finals after winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup last year. Egypt, under Hassan, qualified for the 2026 World Cup and reached the round of 16 for the first time, while Zamalek, with Gamal at the helm, reached the Confederation Cup final and won the Egyptian league.
