Betis seek European edge
Real Betis, led by Manuel Pellegrini, are preparing to face Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday after winning their first three group-stage matches. They currently sit fourth in La Liga. The Andalusian side hope to strengthen their presence in Europe under Pellegrini, who guided them to the Copa del Rey title in 2022, returned them to the Champions League last season after a 20-year absence, and led them to the Conference League final in 2025. The Dortmund fixture brings back painful memories for Pellegrini: Málaga, under his management, lost to them in 2013 after conceding twice in stoppage time, and were eliminated from the Champions League before the semi-finals.
