Casablanca crisis prompts Sergio's dismissal at Wydad
Al Wydad Athletic Club terminated its contract with its Portuguese coach, Paulo Sérgio, just four weeks into the 2026-2027 season due to unsatisfactory results. The team achieved only one victory, alongside two defeats and one draw, and did not secure any wins at home in three matches. This followed a loss to Wydad Témara, draws with NBA Meknès and Aït Zinet, and an away victory against Difaà Hassani El Jadidi. As a result of these negative outcomes, the club’s management decided to terminate the contract amicably, amid fan anger. It is expected that the team will sign with Tunisian coach Nabil Nasser to lead the team in the upcoming phase.
