Sarkot's chants disrupt Syrian basketball
The basketball game between Al-Karamah and Al-Wahda clubs in Syria was marred by protests after fans chanted in the name of Abdul Basit Sarout, a symbol of the Syrian revolution, which sparked widespread controversy. The Karamah club management condemned the disrespect expressed in the chants and called for an urgent investigation to identify those responsible, reaffirming that the sacrifices of the martyrs are a red line. Meanwhile, Al-Wahda's management clarified that the chants were meant as a tribute to Sarout and did not contain any insult, urging against interpretations that could incite discord. The Syrian Basketball Federation formed an independent investigation committee to review the circumstances of the incident, emphasizing that respecting national symbols, especially martyrs, has always been and remains a red line.
