Egyptian FA appeals sanctions on national team three
The Egyptian Football Association confirms that its president, Hani Abu Raida, is personally handling the appeal against the international federation's (FIFA) sanctions on Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim Hassan, and Mustafa Zico. These sanctions follow their suspension by FIFA stemming from incidents during the Egypt-Argentina match in the 2026 World Cup. It is clarified that the legal department is managing all procedures, and Hossam Hassan did not personally interfere in the case, as he delegated the matter to the federation. The sanctions include a three-match suspension for Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan, and a five-match suspension for Zico, following the events after the match, which ended with Argentina winning 3-2. These events involved accusations against Hossam Hassan of favoritism toward Argentina, as well as statements criticizing the refereeing and expressing support for Palestine.
