Helicopter Incidents in Sports History
LeBron James, the 41-year-old basketball star, uses a helicopter to travel between his team's facility in New Jersey and New York. The helicopter takes off from a public helipad in Manhattan and the flight lasts about 45 minutes to New York, followed by another 15-20 minutes to the stadium. The estimated cost for the season is approximately $804,000, based on 67 round trips. While this mode of transportation is considered convenient and quick, a journalist mentioned that obstacles include weather, regulations, and political objections aimed at limiting unnecessary helicopter flights. This is a reminder of past incidents involving other stars, such as Kobe Bryant.
