Infantino nears presidency by 16 votes
The deadline for the FIFA Presidential Election, scheduled for March 2027, is approaching. The current president, Gianni Infantino, faces a potential challenge from former Swiss defender Ramon Vega. Vega needs support from five member associations out of the 211 to secure his candidacy officially, while Infantino currently has backing from around 90 associations. A total of 106 votes are required to win. Although some potential candidates have withdrawn, Vega remains the only declared contender competing against Infantino in the upcoming election.
