Alonso confirms Martínez concussion
Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, the head coach of Chelsea, revealed that Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez suffered a concussion after colliding with Everton player Garard Branthwaite during the seventh round of the English Premier League. He was transferred to the hospital for precautionary examinations. The incident occurred in the 76th minute and prompted emergency medical personnel to intervene; the 34-year-old player was injured but left the pitch conscious. The injury gave young goalkeeper Mike Bendix the opportunity to make his debut in the league and contributed to the team keeping a clean sheet for the first time since January. Meanwhile, Martínez's condition remains under medical observation and evaluation.
