Infantino’s apology faces setback in Germany reveals behind scenes
The article reveals Gianni Infantino's failure to contain the crisis of trust with the European Union, particularly Germany, following his apology. This crisis centers around the “FIFA Forward Enterprise” project, through which he sought to establish a company to manage FIFA’s interests and sell shares to investors, aiming to generate additional funding for member associations. Germany, led by German Football Association President Bernd Neuendorf, expressed strong opposition to this project, describing it as requiring fundamental reforms within FIFA. They also considered Infantino’s apology insincere, noting that members were informed of the project through the media rather than leadership channels. The statements indicate that the trust crisis with Europe is now irreparable, and Infantino’s future as head of FIFA is under threat amid widespread opposition to his policies and structural reforms.
