FIFA Funds and Infantino's Next Move
The International Federation of Football (FIFA) intends to allocate $6.35 billion to enhance football development programs during the upcoming cycle, marking a significant increase from previous allocations, which were limited to $10 million for each national association. The substantial financial revenues from the recent World Cup, which generated approximately $15 billion in revenue, will be invested to support national and continental associations, with over $3.5 billion sourced from reserves and allocations to associations increased to $25 million. This plan comes in the context of FIFA's efforts to improve its financial position and promote the global development of the sport, at a time when football leaders in Europe are vying to compete with Gianni Infantino for the presidency of the International Football Federation, ahead of the elections scheduled for next year.
