Arab Saluki Championship evolves into a sports system
The Arab Saluki Championship organized by the Emirates Falconers Club during the 2026-2027 season aims to develop the Arab Saluki sport in the UAE and the Gulf region. This will be achieved through the establishment of an official register that helps classify breeds, document data, and promote organized competition. The championship seeks to transfer the cultural heritage associated with traditional hunting into a modern sporting activity, which includes performance classification, cash prizes, and events such as beauty contests and hunting demonstrations using mechanical lures. Additionally, it aims to enhance efforts in breeding Salukis according to scientific standards, expand the community of breeders and enthusiasts, and stimulate the local economy linked to this sport. With the start of an official season, the initiative endeavors to raise public awareness and to reinforce the heritage and sporting aspects of the Arab Saluki.
