Italy's Football Federation elects new president
The Italian Football Federation has announced that its general assembly will be held on December 14th to elect a new president, amidst governance issues and the Italian national team's failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup for the third consecutive time. Giovanni Malagò, who currently serves as the federation's interim commissioner, has been appointed as temporary president following the resignation of Gabriele Gravina. Malagò, who previously chaired the Italian Olympic Committee, is considered the leading and most favored candidate to win the upcoming election, which is taking place in a turbulent environment after the federation was placed under the guardianship of the Olympic Committee.
