Montella suffers four defeats
The Turkish Football Federation has dismissed the national team coach, Italian Vincenzo Montella, following a string of poor results in the UEFA Nations League and his team's last four defeats in the competition, including losses to France, Belgium, and Italy twice. Despite his historic achievement of leading Turkey to the quarter-finals of the 2024 European Championship, the team's performance has recently declined, especially in the 2026 World Cup, where they secured only one win in three matches and finished at the bottom of their group. Montella was appointed in September 2023 and initially achieved good results, but he was unable to improve the team's performance in recent times, leading the federation to make the decision to dismiss him.
