Portugal revokes protection for Manchester City scandal suspect
Portuguese authorities ended the protection of "Football Leaks" founder Rui Pinto after 83 days. He had been receiving security protection since 2020 due to his role in leaks that contributed to financial investigations involving Manchester City Club. Despite ongoing cases and investigations related to the leaks, the decision was made after reviewing his security and noting a reduced level of threat. However, the authorities delayed informing Pinto until a day before his protection was lifted, prompting an objection from his legal team, who plan to appeal the decision due to the lack of prior consultation. This decision coincides with Manchester City's recent condemnation by the English Premier League for financial misconduct, and it leaves the door open for continued investigations with Pinto, who has stated his readiness to cooperate with British authorities on matters related to football.
