Candidates for 2026 Golden Boy Award
Reports indicate that Moroccan player Ayoub Bouhjidi, who plays for Manchester City and the Moroccan national team, is among the top contenders to win the European Golden Boy Award in 2026. He ranks third in the final ranking issued by Spaniard Pau Cubarsi. The list includes 25 young talents from European clubs, with his teammate Lamine Gassama absent due to the award rules that prevent a player from winning twice, making Bouhjidi the second highest ranked contender after Cubarsi. Bouhjidi shined with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup before transferring to the English Premier League. He is 18 years old and has played 96 matches for French club Lille. The list features players from various leagues, with the total market value of the contenders estimated at around 1.4 billion euros. The winner is expected to be announced in November 2026.
