Ex-Man City chief urges board resignation
David Bernstein, the former chairman of Manchester City, stated that the club's board members should resign from their positions after an independent committee concluded that they had committed serious financial violations related to the use of "sham" sponsorship contracts aimed at inflating revenue and reducing costs by over 900 million pounds over more than a decade. Bernstein explained that the management of the club falls on the board of directors, and their remaining in office is unacceptable in light of this serious matter, noting that the sanctions could include fines, point deductions, or even relegation from the Premier League. He cautioned that the ongoing crisis could seriously threaten the club's future. The English Premier League announced that the club has acknowledged the violations but denies any wrongdoing, while a grace period for appeal remains in effect before any final sanctions are imposed.
