Bordeaux receives euro boost
The American investment fund "Park Bench" has purchased the French club Bordeaux for a symbolic one euro, with the aim of saving the club from its financial crises and preventing its decline from France’s top division to the lowest levels. The club is facing debts nearing 18 million euros and has fallen from the league champion in the 2008-2009 season to the sixth division following a series of sanctions and bankruptcy. The deal requires approval from local regulatory authorities and the Bordeaux court to avoid the club's liquidation, and this step marks the beginning of rebuilding Bordeaux's future.
