Gamal recounts facing racism many times
Lameez Jamal, a star of FC Barcelona, has been subjected to racist abuse a thousand times during matches, especially in the October 2024 El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona. He was insulted with offensive and racist remarks after scoring a goal, including phrases like "You damned black man." Jamal emphasized that he does not allow racism to affect his focus on the field and prefers not to react excessively to ensure his performance. He also pointed out that racism can manifest in implicit comments or unspoken looks. Official investigations were launched by the Spanish La Liga and Real Madrid, resulting in the identification of a minor who apologized for the incident. He was convicted and suspended for one year, with efforts being made to combat such racist behavior.
