Engineers' Syndicate Calls GEA on Nov 6
The Engineers Syndicate Council has decided to call for an extraordinary general assembly on November 6th to discuss and ratify proposed amendments to the Syndicate Law. These modifications aim to enhance financial sustainability, regulate professional practice, and develop services provided to engineers. The amendments include establishing an independent legal entity for each of its funds, introducing an engineering stamp, and making changes to practice regulations—such as requiring an exam for recent graduates, equalizing technical engineering with applied engineering, and ensuring that plans conform to building codes. Additionally, the proposed changes address directing institutions and companies to promote union employment, reducing membership fees, extending the suspension period from membership to five years, and expanding the powers of branch councils. These updates are designed to strengthen the Syndicate’s position, keep pace with the evolving profession, and emphasize the importance of modernizing union work to serve the interests of engineers.
