Pentagon: End of "Ironclad" in Iraq
The United States and its coalition partners officially concluded Operation "Iron Will" in Iraq, with a coordinated withdrawal of their forces and equipment from Erbil Air Base. This step marks the end of the military mission that contributed to the defeat of ISIS in Iraq, as Iraqi security forces will now be responsible for protecting the country and pursuing remnants of the organization independently. The U.S. Department of Defense will continue to provide training and intelligence support to Iraqi partners to strengthen ongoing security cooperation.
