CENTCOM Commander on Hormuz Situation
The commander of U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, confirmed that American forces are maintaining security for navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, where they facilitated the passage of over one billion barrels of oil in the past two months. He also emphasized that the straits are free of mines and that vessel traffic has reached its highest levels in the past two weeks. He stated that the United States has imposed strict sanctions on Iran's oil exports, and Tehran has been unable to export any barrels of oil since the sanctions were imposed. Additionally, the U.S. and regional countries are strengthening their air defenses to counter attack drones. Despite ceasefire agreements in April and June, these breaks have collapsed again, as operations continue to prevent Iran from exporting oil and to limit its influence in the region.
