Al-Rawashdeh Questions Tree Uprooting over Sanitation Issues
Former Deputy Wafi Rawashadah criticized the Amman Municipality's policy of removing decorative trees from the sidewalks, considering that focusing on this diverts attention from other issues related to the city's sanitation services. He explained that removing the trees without addressing the underlying infrastructure problems of the sidewalks—especially the uneven heights—makes it difficult for the elderly and people with disabilities to move around easily. Trimming the branches instead of uprooting the trees can preserve shade and beauty. Rawaashadah called for solving problems at their roots rather than replacing them with others, warning that their removal could worsen pedestrian issues without suitable alternative solutions.
