Fifa wants to discuss restricting women’s Olympic football to under-23 players, citing fixture congestion and the workload of senior players. Eligibility for the 2028 Los Angeles Games is already set, so any change could take effect no earlier than Brisbane 2032; no formal proposal has been made. The idea could face opposition from leading players, while the IOC may resist because of the tournament’s commercial importance.
