Jimmy Anderson announces cricket retirement
Jimmy Anderson is expected to retire from professional cricket after Lancashire informed him they will not renew his contract for next season. At age 44, Anderson, who has taken 1,193 first-class wickets, was told that he does not fit the club's new plans following a disappointing season that saw Lancashire finish second-bottom of Division Two. Despite his outstanding performance and long-standing career, the club’s new leadership has opted for a different direction.
