Family of student cites university accountability
Ethan Scott Brown, a 23-year-old student at the University of Glasgow, died by suicide after being wrongly told he was ineligible to graduate due to grading errors. He was supposed to graduate in December 2024, but university staff failed to recognize that he had enough marks for an honours degree. Brown's family, who have settled a civil court case with the university, called for a fatal accident inquiry and criticized the institution for systemic failures and neglecting his mental health concerns. The university expressed profound regret, apologized, and is implementing recommendations following an internal review.
