Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulchre's Tomb Search Advances
Archaeologists excavating beneath Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre have uncovered evidence of an ancient landscape that included a quarry, cultivated areas, and funerary activity, aligning with descriptions of Jesus' burial site. The findings do not confirm the presence of Jesus’ remains but provide insights into the environment during his lifetime, supporting the traditional location's historical context. The excavation was part of a restoration project and has revealed a changing landscape that was once outside the city and used for quarrying, farming, and burial.
