O’Mahony on dropping rituals and gardening
Peter O'Mahony, the former Ireland and Munster rugby captain, reflects on his career and personal growth after transitioning into retirement. He discusses how his tough, emotion-controlled approach once fueled his performance in the sport, but later recognized the need to be more adaptable and emotionally open. O’Mahony emphasizes the influence of coaches like Andy Farrell and Joe Schmidt, highlighting Farrell’s empathy and leadership style. He expresses lingering loyalty to Munster, regrets how his exit was handled, and states he is now focused on a gardening business, helping out amateur rugby clubs and pursuing a gardening book, with no plans to return to professional coaching.
