Mariah Carey Wins $20M Defamation Suit
Singer Mariah Carey has won a legal case in a defamation lawsuit filed by her brother, Morgan Carey, who sought $20 million in damages over allegations made in her 2020 memoir. A court in New York dismissed the case, confirming that Morgan did not provide sufficient evidence to prove that Mariah intentionally published false information about their relationship, and that under American law, he is not entitled to damages. The dispute has been ongoing since 2021, when Morgan accused her of publishing damaging narratives about him and harming his reputation. However, the court found the evidence insufficient to establish the claimed damages. The attorney plans to appeal the ruling, while Carey's lawyer stated that the decision reflects the strength of her client's position.
