Housing Support for Divorced and Widowed Women
Housing support for divorced women and widows aims to provide them and their children with stable and secure housing through government programs that include financial and tangible assistance, as well as platforms such as Sakan and Developmental Housing. The eligibility criteria specify that applicants must be Saudi nationals and possess legal proof of dependency, taking into account that they should be treated as head of household if they are divorced or widowed. They should not have owned a residence during previous years. Priority is given based on family size, health and social conditions, and specific needs such as disability. The "Sakan" program offers housing units or financial support, while Developmental Housing provides units on a usufruct basis to women most in need, with symbolic installment payments. Additionally, a Rental Support pathway is available to protect them from eviction, with easy steps for application via the "Sakan" platform, including eligibility verification, document upload, and support type selection. These programs aim to achieve housing stability, psychological security, and economic safety for single mothers, offering flexible solutions tailored to their social and economic circumstances.
