Sheikh Al-Sharawi on art as a cup
The artist Madiha Hamdi revealed details of her meeting with Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al Shaarawi, where she asked him about the relationship between art and religion. He provided her with guidance on understanding what is permissible (halal) and forbidden (haram) through examples involving objects such as cups, knives, and alcohol, emphasizing that halal is halal and haram is haram, and that maintaining a balance between them is important. He explained that Al Shaarawi told her that a knife can either cause harm or be used for permissible purposes, and that lawful food is what complies with Sharia law, regardless of other health or social considerations. She did not contact him for a long time due to his health circumstances.
