Grizzly attack kills pair
Jennifer Balcarras, 48, and her daughter, Selah Reed, 20, were killed in a suspected grizzly bear attack while hiking Saturday on the Snooka West Trail near their home in Bella Coola, British Columbia. Search teams recovered Balcarras’ body Monday and Reed’s on Tuesday after relatives requested a welfare check. Conservation officers are working to locate and capture any bears involved; it is unclear whether more than one animal was responsible.
