Manchester City accounting under review
The UK’s Financial Reporting Council is investigating accounting irregularities at Manchester City after the club was found guilty of breaching financial regulations by artificially inflating its financial position, including by more than £900 million. The FRC has taken over the case from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales but has not yet launched a formal investigation. Manchester City plans to appeal the verdict, and experts highlight the regulator's limited powers to pursue further action against clubs and individuals.
