Shark attack linked to migrant smuggling in California
Sixteen people, including two confirmed Mexican nationals, survived after their boat capsized off the California coast during an apparent illegal migrant smuggling operation. The incident occurred about 140 miles west of Ensenada, Mexico, with survivors rescued after fighting sharks and holding onto debris. At least one individual was treated for a suspected shark bite, and two others were in critical condition. The Coast Guard suggests the vessel was involved in smuggling activities, amid ongoing reports of multiple smuggling attempts along Southern California.
