Final plans for 250-foot arch exclude Trump’s military complex proposal
The Trump administration released final plans for a 250-foot triumphal arch in Washington, D.C., intended as a ceremonial gateway near Arlington National Cemetery. Although originally justified for national security purposes, including housing drones and snipers, the latest plans omit these military features, focusing instead on the arch's symbolic role. The project has faced legal challenges from preservationists concerned about its impact on historic sightlines and cemetery solemnity, with approval processes ongoing. The arch's design may still accommodate security functions, but it is primarily presented as a monument to the nation.
