College student's murder trial targets rum, note and missing items
Miguel Enrique Salguero-Olivares is on trial in North Carolina for the 2012 murder of Faith Hedgepeth, a university student. Prosecutors presented forensic evidence linking him to the crime, including DNA on a rum bottle used as a weapon and a fast-food bag with a threatening message. The trial involves testimony about the investigation's handling of evidence, with the defense questioning procedural mistakes; Salguero-Olivares faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
